Material Future is an entrepreneurial infrastructure company, working vertically to match technological solutions with pressing environmental challenges world-wide.
We combine vast experience in executing large-scale industrial projects together with expertise in sustainability.
We take projects from R&D level to industrial scale.
We invest, build and operate.
We use an innovative patented process of thermal decomposition to process residual plastic, RDF and even municipal waste into usable products.
Harnessing leading renewable energy technologies, we have established solar PV projects in Italy and Southern Spain spanning dozens of MW.
In Romania, heating a whole city with 16 MW heat and 17.6 MW Electricity (see spotlight). In Germany, hazardous waste incineration facility generating 20 MWh heat and 3 MWh electricity.
The city of Giurgiu , Romania, is located near the Danube river (population 70,000). The city had an old district heating distribution system, reminiscent of its communist past, which was out of use for decades. It used to be powered by an old coal fired power station based in the city's industrial zone. This location was ideal for a cogeneration project. The new power plant consists of four Yenbacher engines producing together 17.6 MW electricity and injecting 16MW heat into the now revived district heating system. The project took a record time of 7 months to be completed from start to finish. The project recieves a bonus from the EU for high efficiency.
Material Future has developed and patented a unique processing technology based on thermal decomposition. This technology takes residual plastics, sludge, used oils or municipal waste and turns them into usable oil products and/or electric power. The process consists of heating the material to high temperatures in an oxygen neutral environment, leading the molecule chains to break and turn the materials into gas, liquid and char. The heating takes place in a sealed reactor and therefore has no emissions and creates no pollution. We have an operating flagship facility in Romania and in the process of building projects in the UK.
